First visit, and enjoyed your pictures and words.

Sad to hear you've been deprived of lapwings and curlews, and would urge you to visit beautiful Upper Teesdale in the North Pennines, where we find it hard to realise that they are increasingly uncommon elsewhere!

Hi Martin, thanks so much for taking the time to drop by and read, means a lots. Sounds like you've got a little wildlife oasis up there in the North Pennines. Breaks my heart that Lapwing populations have decreased by 50% since the year I was born, 1983. It's good to know there are still thriving populations! I recommend a read of 'Rebirding' by Benedict Macdonald, it paints rather a bleak picture, but ends on a hopeful note. Hope you continue to pop by a read on occasion, all the best, Verity

Lovely and lovely words. And I love this snippet:

And the sea says

in its lovely voice:

Excuse me, I have work to do

Thanks Michael! I'm a huge fan of Mary Oliver, she was a marvellous poet, probably best known for that celebrated line, 'Tell me, what is it you plan to do. With your one wild and precious life?'
